A community place for everybody

The Melrose Centre is your local hub for events, connection, and community support. Whether you’re looking for the perfect space to run a class, host a meeting, or celebrate a special occasion — we offer welcoming, flexible venues that suit all kinds of needs.
But we’re more than just a venue. At the heart of what we do is care for our community. We run local initiatives that make a real difference — from food bank support and mental wellbeing activities to outreach for those experiencing homelessness.

Our beautiful building has always been a place where people in the local community come together.
Originally founded in 1984 by the late Rev. Melvin and Rose Powell, the centre, then known as the Tooting Neighbourhood Centre, quickly became a vital hub for people of all ages across Wandsworth. Every inch of the building has long been filled with life, hosting clubs, classes, learning sessions, meetings, and community events that bring people together.
In 2024, following a full renovation, the building was rededicated as The Melrose Centre — a name that honours its founders and the lasting legacy of community they inspired. Today, The Melrose Centre continues to thrive as a welcoming space where everyone can connect, grow, and belong.
